This is another new week, begin off with video and audio quiz, after quiz session we begin to discuss for our coming project which is creating a promo video for CDU library and Eric passed the session to Robert which will be the leader of our shooting in this, he explain and share what is his expectation and talk about what we will be doing individually or in a small group. We talk about each of our expertise and what program we are familiar with. In the meantime, we are called up to find either good or bad video tutorials to differentiate the good and bad element of a video.
This is the one which I feel its better to watch especially when target audience are students.
It is funny, informative and simple
bad tutorial
simply because of the noise of the background
hopefully can get more involve in this coming project. Teamwork !

Week 3: all about audio
This week its all about audio, Eric shares to us basic audio includes how is a sound created, he gives an example by using a music pot thingy and hit it to make the sound, the pot will create sound by continuously spin the surface with another object. It was amazing that that pot could create 3 sound in one time.
Talk about basic audio editing it is much simpler than the music class one, I learnt how to use new program which is called STP (soundtrack pro), it is a family of final cut pro, which brings some benefits by using that to create/edit a sound than using logic, pro tools or even reason just because STP are straight connected with the files we used in FCP, so whatever we edited in STP will bring direct change to FCP as well. I think it would be very efficient way rather than copy here and there to fix the audio with the video.
So, lesson of the day is to remove the noise out of a sound clip, by replacing them using the ambience sound in the track. We will just need to copy the previous suitable ambience sound and replace the noise to make the sound better. There are few tips that i learn today which quite similar to music production class as a reminder, its the 0 point of a sound, we do not simply cut a sound as it would bring clicks or even pops, so the best way is cut it on the 0 level of the sound wave which is the end of a wave.
Well, that wraps up today lesson. Below is the lesson that we did.

Week 2: Intro to F.C.P ~
Its another day for NMD302, teaches about final cut pro something that I am avoiding for several years. Well Eric starts off of explaining what are the steps of the normal workflow, and always always starts with a planning, I guess that it is the best step to start off to organize things well before we straight onto doing something and might get lost or stuck in the progress. Next, comes to getting media, by shooting videos, or get pictures and videos from other sources. After that we will have to build up our story, arrange it and start editing it. We used cut in adobe premiere but in FCP we used trim to seperate the video between, then we will put in some effects and transitions continued by adding text/translation and some extra effects with it. Audio would be the last one to edit, but for me, in some video editing such as commercial/trailer/pilot i would normally use music as editing background to make the video transition according to the beat of music. I believe that would bring a greater effect and music effects only would be the last one to put up.
So this time Eric gave us assignment on using FCP to edit some video clips by putting transition between them to look smooth than one clip jump to another clip might look very jumpy. And this is it.
